Vancouver Island singer-songwriter John Gogo comes from a large musical family in the Nanaimo area. His musical career has already spanned more than three decades, ranging from his early days in the prog rock band Graphics, which featured two other Gogo brothers, through to his solo acoustic career which continues to this day. His debut album “Coal & Wood” came out in 1990, followed up by “It Never Fails” in 1994, which featured the hit track "Baby Blue”. More touring, appearances on Canadian television, and plenty of airplay on Much Music and CMT would follow for Gogo. The Victoria Times Colonist has called John “one of the most talented singer/songwriter this area has ever produced”.
John’s music ranges from roots and folk, through to country and even pop. His latest release, “Coal & Wood (revisited)” marks a return to his folk singer days, featuring a few tunes from the original album, as well as an historical perspective on Canada’s West Coast. John Gogo is a wonderful and engaging performer and we’re thrilled to welcome him as our featured artist at the March 2017 Coffeehouse.
