"We are on am on a mission to show the audience that the blues is not just for the rock musicians who have monopolized the style; that jazz music is the direct descendant from the blues, and that rock and roll blues is the stepchild that came later." 3/4 of this group performed original material in last years jazzfest in victoria under the name Navica. Jimmy Smith was an important influence on a number of musicians as he was one of the pioneers who introduced the use of the B3 organ to a wider audience. Marty Steele had the good fortune to actually meet and sit in with Jimmy Smith when he was much younger and aside from being a major influence on Marty, he also has some stories to tell about him too! Come out if you are curious about a part of jazz and blues history.
