7:00 PM to 8:00 PM

With professional jazz players, come for an evening of music and thoughtful reflection on the topics of Mardi Gras and the celebration of feasting and fasting.

Bassist Phil Albert has released ten records as a leader/co-leader, played on hundreds more (including last month at Sylvan Vespers!), and performed thousands of times in a variety of musical genres. He is currently finishing his doctorate in jazz performance at the University of Toronto, and teaches the jazz and creative music ensemble at Uvic.

Patrick Boyle is a musician and composer who plays trumpet and drobro guitar. Currently, he is Associate Professor at the University of Victoria School of Music. In 2022, he released his 7th solo album entitled Stepworks, a compilation of musical creations for American choreographer Justin Rapaport. Check out patrickboyle.ca for more info.

Patrick O’Reilly is a composer/guitarist and a community-driven fixture in the Toronto creative music scene. He is co-curator of the Furniture Music Workshop series and operates the W/DRWN record label. Patrick holds a bachelor’s degree in Contemporary Music from Humber College, and a Master's in Musical Arts degree from the University of Toronto where he is currently teaching while completing a Doctor of Musical Arts Degree. His new album The Remembrancer: Justin Haynes Plays the Compositions of Patrick O’Reilly is available now.

The evening is led by Rev Katherine. Sylvan is a 2SLGBTQIA+ affirming space.
