Port Alberni challenges the Guinness World Record for most people in Regency costume! You can still register on July 15, but please be prepared for long lineups if you have not pre-registered. We thank you for your patience.


10:00 am - 11:30 am:  check-in if pre-registered
                      late registrations will also be taken
12:00 noon:     World Record count begins

All participants must be dressed as described in the Guinness World Record Guidelines. Participants will be given a number, have their photo taken and register with name. Guinness representatives administer the count. All participants must be registered and in place before counting begins.

Entry fee: $5 per person / $10 per family (includes souvenir gift)

Dress for Alberni's success! Check out the Guinness World Records guidelines for Regency dress to be sure your "challenge" attire meets the requirements. Guinness representatives check each costume before ratifying the count.

Ladies: Must be dressed in full length, low cut dress with high waistline. Dress must have sleeves. All ladies should be wearing bonnets or other Regency-style head wear. Ladies should also be accessorized to the period with items such as gloves, reticule (small purse), parasol, etc.

Gentlemen: Should wear a tail coat with britches and knee high boots. They must wear a top hat, white shirt with high collar and neck cloth, and vest (waistcoat).

Children: should be dressed in a "scaled down version of the adults" according to Guinness. Therefore, little girls in dresses to the style of ladies and little boys in britches, full sleeved shirts with neck cloth (cravat) and a vest or short jacket.

The Jane Austen Festival of Port Alberni is presented by the Centennial Belles Fashion Group, a not-for-profit community group dedicated to preserving and presenting vintage and authentically recreated fashions of past decades.
