The group awaiting the reviews includes the excitable playwright; the unstable director; the pill-popping leading lady; the playwright’s best friend, who passed up this production for a television series and a drama critic who’s panned the playwright in the past. It’s a prime recipe for narcissism, ambition, childishness and just plain irrationality – and for comedy.
