Ilan Goldenblatt grew up in Israel. After 3 1/2 years in the Israeli army he left Israel to travel and ended up settling on Vancouver Island.
He is the owner of The Thirsty Camel Cafe and is involved with the Bowen Road Farmers Market. He travels frequently to Israel and Palestine, where his brother is the leader of an organization seeking peace.
