Island Studies Conference 2013 presents ideas from West Coast BC and Beyond

Also included in the Island Studies Conference will be: a panel on islands, �islandness�, and island studies; a wine and cheese party on Friday evening; a concert to celebrate Gabriola music and musicians; island literature featured at book table; a reader�s theatre with phenomenal actors and producer; field trips, as well as mingling with other passionate islanders who are curious and engaged in sharing what they know about living on islands both here on Gabriola and other islands worldwide.

Highlights:

May 10: Panel discussion on Island Studies with CBC Radio�s North by Northwest Cheryl MacKay as moderator, followed by a wine and cheese party.

May 11: Starting at 8:30 am concurrent sessions on a variety of island themes. Evening event is a Lulu concert withThe Big Fish Orca-stra. Created, themed, choreographed, and performed by Gabriola�s own musicians especially for the Conference. You need to purchase a ticket for the concert.

May 12: Another full day of concurrent sessions and a final plenary sendoff with Charlotte Cameron�s reader�s theatre production of Malcolm Lowry�s October Ferry to Gabriola.

A registration fee of $50.00/weekend includes refreshments at breaks, your choice of a range of presentations on a range of topics, and a glass of wine and conversation after the Friday evening panel. Meals and Lulu concert are not included.
You can bring your own food for meals or register on our website for both meals and the conference.
