Island Stitcher Guild Festival "Autumn Leaves"

You are invited to join us for a full day of stitching to create this beautiful autumn themed sampler. This year�s festival is being offered in a round-robin format with everyone making the same project. Each student will take four out of five classes throughout the day with an opportunity to learn their missing technique on the following Monday, Sept 20th. Out-of-towners can ask for support from fellow students, or contact the teachers. The techniques will be taught by five of our guild members to groups of ten students. Participants will receive their kits and assignments at the beginning of the day. You�ll be with different students throughout the day so there will be lots of opportunity for making new friends along the way.

The price for the day is $40 which includes the cost of your kit: 25 count lugana fabric, needles, and threads are included for all five techniques. The finished piece is a 9 inch circle with the five leaves of different techniques separated by a �windy� flourish. If you wish to attend the festival but do-your-own-thing the cost is $20. Tea, coffee and goodies will be provided for breaks, and please bring a bag lunch.

Leaf designers and teachers are: Louise Turnbull - Rust-coloured leaf in classic crewel shading technique Long-and-Short Stitch and Seed Stitch in wool; Carol Grant-Powell - A modified Hardanger technique in over-dyed cotton; Bunny Goodman - Golden oak leaf in Maso Nui, a layered laid technique that tops DMC floss with a web of Kreinik Japan gold through golden seed beads; Pat Quinlan - Green deltoid-shaped leaf filled with Four Sided Stitch surrounded by Whipped Stem Stitch; Margaret Henderson - Blackwork in a variegated floss called Cherry Wine.
