Bach and Beyond offers a treasure trove of choral material selected by Music Director, Bruce Farquharson. Inspired by the English group, Voces8, the Island Consort Chamber Choir begins with our very first Bach Cantata, “Nach Dir, Herr, Verlanget Mich” – featuring our own soloists plus 5 excellent players as accompanists.
As well, we are excited to have Nicola Crowhurst returning to accompany the choir, with her saxophone as an extra voice in the mix of 4 pieces. This program presents a wonderfully entertaining and inspiring mix of Early Music, modern classics, folk and vocal jazz. The music encompasses Baroque dance, deep inner reflection, joy, romance and humour – all performed with beautiful harmonic arrangements. Regardless of your mindset, at some point the music in our program will touch you. Please come to share and enjoy our musical journey into “Bach and Beyond”.
