Susan Ketchen will be signing copies of her newly-released second book Made That Way at Coles Books in Courtenay.

Made That Way is a stand-alone sequel to Born That Way (Oolichan, 2009). In the newest book, fourteen-year-old Sylvia is now taking medication for her genetic disorder and is experiencing serious side effects. In Sylvia�s opinion, it�s not the right time to have her own horse, but Grandpa ships one to her anyway. The much-anticipated horse turns out to be not exactly normal.

Readers will strongly identify with Sylvia�s determination to take charge of her own life and her struggle to develop a deeper understanding of what �normal� means. What will happen when she finally stands up to her parents, her tormentors at school and even her hero Kansas?

Susan Ketchen was born in Nanaimo and holds an M.Sc. degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. She had a successful counselling practice for many years in the Comox Valley, and now resides on a small Courtenay hobby farm with her husband, two horses, two cats and a flock of chickens.
