International Vulture Awareness Day

Join us at The Raptors as we celebrate bald headed scavengers with special vulture themed talks and flying demonstrations, BBQ, opportunities to hold a bird, face painting, and silent auction with donations from the Vancouver Aquarium, Coho Ferry, Imax Victoria, Surfside Adventure Tours, BC Forest Discovery Centre, and more!
Proceeds from the event will go to the Peregrine Fund’s vulture conservation programs and to the local Raptor Rescue Society. Currently, vultures are the most endangered group of birds worldwide and three species in Asia have declined by almost 99% in the past 15 years.
While vultures may not win any awards when it comes to beauty, they are vitally important to global ecosystems. While we hope to raise awareness and funds for vulture conservation, we also want to celebrate our own Vancouver Island turkey vulture population as they prepare for their migration at the end of September!
