Saturday, April 7th, 2018
1:00 PM to 3:00 PM

Join Ashley Cooper in exploring the native plants that dwell here at the Compost Education Centre and learn about their traditional uses. We will also consider the larger bioregion that underlies the cityscape and discuss how we can grow beyond a colonial system of food production into one that also respects traditional foods, native ecosystems, and the indigenous cultures of this land.

Instructor Bio:

Ashley Cooper (Tsartlip First Nation) is a SENĆOŦEN language specialist and education coordinator for the PEPÁḴEṈ HAUTW̱ Program; she is currently working hard to revitalize important cultural knowledge and practices in her community and beyond.
