In the Wee Small Hours

The title of our concert is “in the wee small hours” based on the title track of Frank Sinatra’s 1955 album of the same name. In this program, we sing of the many emotions of the night – romance, nostalgia, fun, melancholy, peace and rest.
You will want to hum along to the well-known, well-loved Moon Glow and Moon River and you’ll tap your toes to Catch a Falling Star and Paper Moon. The beautiful In Stiller Nacht (Brahms) will charm, as will the Swingle Singer’s arrangement of Mozart’s Eine Kleine Nachtmusik. Water Night by contemporary composer Eric Whitacre, is both haunting and interesting. In the Evening composed by Nova Scotia folk artist, Susan Crowe, and arranged by Vancouver composer, Stephen Smith, is an exquisite song of love and regret keenly felt at night fall. The romantic A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square and the compelling Starry Starry Night (Vincent) add to the mysteries of the night.
This is a varied program with beautiful music of all genres from classical to jazz to contemporary to pop. Tickets are only available in advance from choir members and on the website, acappellaplus.ca. There is a cash bar, and snacks are provided at intermission.
