This film is showing in association with the 2019 Cowichan Valley International Women’s Day Festival.

From executive producer Angelina Jolie and the creators of the award winning films The Secret of Kells and Song of the Sea, comes the Academy Award and Bafta nominated animation based on Deborah Ellis’ bestselling children’s novel. Parvana is an 11-year-old girl growing up under the Taliban in Afghanistan in 2001. When her father is wrongfully arrested, Parvana embarks on a quest to find him and reunite her family. The Breadwinner is an inspiring and luminously realized tale about the power of stories to sustain hope and carry us through dark times.

Admission is by donation at the door or free with club membership (a membership can be purchased at any film night). All proceeds go to support the community centre – the HUB at Cowichan Station. Bring a pillow to put on your seat for extra movie-watching comfort!
