Renown writer, Naomi Beth Wakan will guide you! Artists paint/sculpt/sew. They usually do not write particularly well. If they did, they would be writers. Still, artists often need to produce a statement about their work for a show, for their website, or when applying for a grant.

This workshop explores how you can go beyond the obscurity of "artspeak" to present an open, honest statement of your current work, or the work you intend to do in the future. This popular writer will excite and inspire you on your quest. Bring writing material and a small piece of your artwork for inspiration. It is helpful if your artwork is an actual piece of work, in order to be able to share with the group.

About Naomi: Naomi Beth Wakan is a poet and personal essayist. She is the inaugural Poet Laureate of Nanaimo and the Inaugural Honorary Ambassador for the Federation of BC Writers.
