10:30 AM to 12:00 PM

Chinatown in Victoria is the oldest in Canada and has been designated as a National Historic Site. A walking tour of Chinatown with Chinatown Walks will bring its history to life for you.

Founded in 1858 during the early days of the Fraser River Gold Rush, Victoria’s Chinatown was the port of entry for all Chinese arriving in Canada for many years. During construction of the Canadian Pacific Railway in the 1880s Chinatown housed almost half of the city’s total population. Now much reduced in size, it still retains important heritage buildings and remains the cultural home of many Chinese throughout Canada.

Chinatown Walks take place every Saturday at 10:30 am throughout the year (and on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays during July and August).

Purchase tickets directly from the guides in cash starting 15 minutes before each tour or online at http://discoverthepast.com/product/chinatown-walks-ticket/
