Hiroshima Lantern Ceremony

This is a beautiful ceremony with 38 lanterns which participants carry together to the water and then watch circle Swa-a-lana lagoon. The ceremony is preceded by music from Janette Briere and Tristan at 8.30. At 9 pm the ceremony is opened by Margaret Sutton on her Japanese flute, the shakuhashi, followed by short remarks by MP Paul Manly, words from MLA Sheila Malcolmson and Mayor Leonard Krog, a harp rendition by Eleanor Sinclair and songs by Angelique. This is the 17th Hiroshima Ceremony organized by WILPF, the Womens International League for Peace and Freedom, Nanaimo Branch. For further information: 250 753 3015.
