Hang Your Bra For Breast Cancer

The Nanaimo CIBC Run for the Cure committee is asking our fellow Nanaimoites to Hang Up Your Bras For Breast Cancer at our event on August 7th.

Join us and many others by bring your gently used bras to hang up, and show your support in the fight for a future without breast cancer. We are proud to say that every bra will be donated to Haven Transition House in Nanaimo and Parksville Qualicum Haven House. These locations provide temporary shelter and support for women and their children who have experienced violence and are seeking safety while exploring their options. These bras will be available for women staying at these locations as well as those participating in our other programs including counseling, outreach, and community victim services.

The CIBC Run for the Cure is trailblazing partnership between the Canadian Cancer Society, CIBC, and 56 communities across Canada to change the face of breast cancer.

This year’s run will be taking place on October 1st right here in Beban Park.

Did you know 1 in 8 women are still expected to develop breast cancer in their lifetime? An on average, 70 women will be diagnosed in Canada today. The Canadian Cancer Society invests the dollars raised through the Run and has led to progress in breast cancer prevention, detection, diagnosis, treatment, and care and has helped to reduce breast cancer mortality rates by 44 percent since their peak in the mid-1980s.
