The GVYO welcomes students, musicians, and friends to an Open Rehearsal on Saturday, November 9.
Finally, a chance to have all of your musical questions answered! See how the orchestra navigates the intricate channels of orchestral sounds, and plunges into the hidden depths of a symphony! Spend an hour in the midst of the music, then meet the Maestro and players over refreshments at break time.
Music Director Yariv Aloni leads the orchestra through selections from:
BEETHOVEN Symphony No. 4
RIDOUT Fall Fair
LISZT Les Preludes
The Greater Victoria Youth Orchestra - expressive, exuberant, focused, and adventurous - is respected as one of the finest youth ensembles in the country. Its members come from throughout southern Vancouver Island to prepare and perform masterworks of the symphonic repertoire, thrilling audiences and critics alike.
Yariv Aloni was appointed Music Director of GVYO in July 2010, having served as Associate Music Director since 2002. As violist he has performed and recorded worldwide. Along with performing and teaching and leading the GVYO, he holds the posts of Music Director of the Galiano Ensemble of Victoria and the Victoria Chamber Orchestra.
