What are the different characteristics of the many painting substrates available today and which one is best for each type of application? In this workshop you will try a variety of painting supports from raw canvas to masonite panels to yupo paper. Each participant will have the opportunity to stretch their own raw canvas (not mandatory) and use both acrylic flow release / absorbent ground to make a large-scale water media painting that doesn�t need to go behind glass. We�ll also use a cradled panel with sides on it to make a poured acrylic resin painting. Some other products we will use as grounds are: light molding paste, micaceous iron oxide, pumice gel, pastel ground and of course traditional gesso. It will be a balance of exercises and projects, direction and freedom in a supportive environment (ha ha). Hope you will join us!
