Golden Workshop - OPEN Paints: Still Life, Portrait & Landscape

In this 2-day weekend workshop we will explore Golden�s OPEN paints. They are acrylic so they clean up easily with water but they stay wet 10x longer. This makes them suitable for painting still lifes, portraits and landscapes - especially working outside �en plein-air�- like the French Impressionists or the Group of 7. Portrait painting requires layering as one outlines the contours of the face, working to alter and shift features and create the translucency of skin. When working outside there is increased airflow and sun so using OPEN gives you that extra time to layer and blend. You can choose to paint your landscape indoors or outside since the venue has floor to ceiling windows and a wrap around balcony with a view! There will be several exercises to familiarize yourself with the paint and a larger scale painting project incorporating the 3 modes of painting we touch on throughout. The weekend will finish with a supportive group critique.
