Go Rowing and Paddling Association of Canada Presents - Kan U Hakit

This race takes place at the Gorge Rowing & Paddling Centre (GRPC), in the award winning Selkirk Waterfront Community. The OC6 race (Saturday) will be a 1500M Sprint on a 500M course, which means two buoy turns are required. Evenly spaced buoy markers at the Start (Bay St Bridge) and Finish (GRPC dock) will be set out for each lane. Each race will consist of two to three boats at a time.


This is a thrilling and spectator friendly event with each team having two to three races (weather permitting). Format TBD. ALL OC6S ARE PROVIDED. Paddlers are encouraged to bring their own PFDs and paddles.


There will be 3 team categories MIXED, WOMEN, MEN. There must be a minimum of three entries to make a category. Mixed team must have a minimum of three women. Prizes will go to the top three placings in each category.
The same 6 people in a team must race all races. Any substitutions will change the status of the team to exhibition, which will result in a last place results for the remaining races. Paddlers may race in both mixed and single-gender boats. If paddling in more than 1 category paddlers must pay for both. If paddling in two types of team you need to fill out two forms. All steers people must attend a mandatory safety meeting prior to racing. Safety meeting and race schedule will be posted closer to the event date. Tents - please ask for permission prior to setting up team tents.


Mail to the address below or drop off a sealed registration package with payment at the GO Rowing and Paddling Association of Canada (GO) office in Gorge Fitness, located just above GRPC. If after hours please put package under the door of the GO office. Please mark the package Attention: Kan-U-Hakit Sprints.

Please note the group waiver/registration forms for adult and youth. Each entry requires these forms to be complete.

Registration will end on Friday February 22nd at 4PM. Price is $120/team/entry ($20.00/paddler/entry). Late registration will only be available if space permits. Traveling teams must email team information by registration deadline, but are able to fill out waivers and additional team information on the morning of the event. Local teams must have all payments and registration information/waivers in before the day of the event. Visa & MC, or make all cheques payable to the Gorge Rowing & Paddling Centre. Refund/Cancellation Policy: There will be 25% administrative fee for all withdrawals. The final date to withdraw a team from the event(s) is Friday, Feb 22, 2011. There will be no refunds of any type after this
date, including if the event is cancelled due to safety reasons and weather. Please see weather and safety related notes below. *Additional information, updates and announcements will be provided by email and/or posted on the website in the weeks leading up to the festival. All participants must be CORA members. Fees due in advance to CORA or on Race Day.
