The Global Learning Initiative invites you to attend a presentation by Dr. Saren Azer, an Internal Medicine Specialist at St. Joseph's Hospital, who will speak about his experiences volunteering at Domiz Refugee Camp, located in northern Iraq for Syrian refugees.

Dr Azer is president of the International Society for Peace and Human Rights (ISPHR). In 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010, he led a medical team in the Kurdish region of northern Iraq, where they provided medical clinics in villages and refugee camps.

With his unique and compassionate perspective, Dr. Azer will share his experiences and discuss the worsening humanitarian crisis in the Middle East. Learn how help is being offered, and discover simple ways how you can become involved. As part of ISPHR, Dr. Azer is involved in an initiative entitled 'Medical Hope for Syria', which all donations received during this event will support.

The presentation will take place on November 24, beginning at 7 pm, at the Stan Hagen Theatre at the Comox Valley campus. Admission is by donation.
