Our Mission!

On April 30th nine students and one VIU faculty member will set out for their month long trip to Ghana. There, they will take part in a variety of tourism activities taken place in some of Ghana’s rural communities. Not only does the money spent on the tours directly impacts the communities economy, but students are then to provide professional feedback to the tour operators to help give insite on what tourists like or maybe don’t like. The group will focus their work in two main areas, Atsiekapoe and Wechiau. These will be where most of the research is conducted. In other communities the group will have a chance to see the sights, spend the day at a children’s home, gather supplies to outfit a school, present their findings, and share their experiences via social media. The hope is to make Ghana seen as a desireable tourism destination full of culturally rich experiences and adventure.

Thanks to our hosts, the Old City Station Pub, we have a tremendous menu! With the purchase of a ticket you get the choice of: a veggie burger or a beef burger, choice of fries or a salad, and a 12 OZ sleeve of one of the following options: Molson Canadian, Old Style Pilsner, Budweiser, Pabst Blue Ribbon, Lucky Lager, Island Lager, Highballs, Rye & Coke, Gin & Tonic, Rhum & Coke, Vodka & Cranberry, Wine, Mission White Bend, Mission Red Blend. Our night will get exciting with some trivia games and a 50/50 raffle! So bring all your trivia knowledge, friends, and four leaf clovers!

Sponsor a Doll!

During the event and anytime before the event, we are accepting donations for doll sponsorships! Every $10 donated sponsors a hand made doll to go to Ghana. ALL the proceeds from the doll donations goes to the Hanukkah Children’s home in Sunyani. (This is where the group will be spending the day with the kids.) Anything is welcome either before the event or during.
