VICTORIA GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY WORKSHOP: Hocus Pocus: Bring Your Family Into Focus Using RootsMagic
PRESENTER: Colleen Miscovitch
NOTE: This class is for PCs not Macs
No, it's not magic, but your friends will think it is. RootsMagic is an excellent way to organize the information you've gathered about your family. It is simple and user friendly, but can also be as powerful as you need for organizing and sharing all of your genealogical information. Come and learn the wonders of RootsMagic as Colleen helps us to work through the basic (and some not-so-basic) tasks of gathering family history. We'll add new family branches, remove unwanted twigs, and colour the leaves on our family trees.
The workshop will cover: common genealogy tasks; entering information from scratch and importing from other programs; adding depth to your information, with sources, photos, and a gazetteer of places; getting the information back out, with family trees, photo albums, and narratives; sharing information with Roots-to-Go; other tips and tricks, such as colour coding your family members and deciphering relationships;
After entering over 1000 "cousins", with accompanying pictures, sound clips, and source citations, Colleen has explored beyond the basic tricks, and she is happy to share them with you.
