A Genealogy Workshop: Beginning English Research presented by Heather Shave Hosted by the Victoria Genealogical Society New to English research? Or have hit a brick wall? Then this workshop is for you! Learn about the basic records that cover the second half of the nineteenth century – Civil Registration (births, marriages and deaths) which started in 1837, the census from 1841 to 1911, and wills after 1858.

The contents of each type of record will be covered, how to search for the records, and how to make the best use of the information. Most of the records (except for the actual Civil Registration records) for this time are online. Different sources for the records, some free and some commercial will be discussed as well.

Register and pay in advance via our VGS Eventbrite events page at . http://www.victoriags.org/events.php#202009_english Registration closes at 7:30 am on the day of the workshop -- don't miss out. Zoom meeting links will be distributed via email to those registered.
