Saturday, July 7th, 2012

This unique workshop will focus on the spirit and the fundamentals of gardening. Appropriate for beginners and for seasoned gardeners, Wendy Johnson will teach the principles and practices of cultivating, building and maintaining soil fertility, propagating plants from seed and asexual reproduction, and tending the living, ecological garden. Along with technical and hands-on skill building, participants will experience awareness practice.

Wendy Johnson is a Buddhist meditation teacher and organic gardening mentor, who lives in the San Francisco Bay Area. Wendy is one of the founders of the organic farm and garden program at Green Gulch Farm Zen Center in Marin County, California. She has been teaching gardening and environmental education since the early 1980s. In 2000, Wendy and her husband, Peter Rudnick, received the annual Sustainable Agriculture Award from the National Ecological Farming Association. Wendy is the author of Gardening at the Dragon’s Gate.
