In Canada, many Asians have begun to celebrate their heritage during the month of May since 1979. In December 2001, the Senate adopted motion proposed by Senator Vivianne Poy officially designate May as Asian Heritage Month in Canada.
In May 2001, the Government of Canada signed an official declaration to designate May as Asian Heritage Month. Da-Guan Dance Theatre from the Dance of National Taiwan University of Arts and Formosa Melody Music Centre will celebrate with us during their North America touring performance 2017, fourteen performance cities include: Chicago, Indianapolis, Denver, Los Angles, San Francisco, Portland, Seattle, Edmonton, Vancouver and Courtenay; yes, Comox Valley is on the map.
Troupe has been to Singapore, Japan, Africa, Hong Kong, USA..., this is how dancers to share the cultures and talents with world and way to link to universe. With the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Vancouver, Comox Valley Multicultural Society is able to bring the talented dancing troupe from Taiwan, to celebrate with us include the Asian Heritage month, Canada 150 and part of celebration of Asian Taiwanese Heritage Week.
