Archives Lecture – Carlo Gentile, Colonial Photographer and his Remarkable Photographs of Vancouver Island and British Columbia – Ron Greene
Ron Greene has been interested in the Colonial period for many years, doing a study of Macdonald & Co. bankers over fifty years ago. Among his interests are photographs and his presentation will discuss and show photographs by the talented photographer, Carlo Gentile, who was a photographer in Victoria from October 1863 until August 1866. He accompanied British Columbia Governor Frederick Seymour into the interior of British Columbia in 1865, and later the same year visited Quesnel and Williams Creek, travelling on both the Harrison Lake to Lillooet route and the recently completed Fraser Canyon route. Come and see these beautiful and technically accomplished early photographs of BC.
