Friday Nite Basketball is a long running sports program in Nanaimo for girls and boys in grades 1 - 10. Players are grouped by age in several gyms around Nanaimo, where they learn individual skills, game skills, make friends and have fun. This league places a strong emphasis on developing the fundamental skills of basketball, both for beginning players as well as for youth who are wanting to refine their skills. We accomplish this through drills, repetition of skills, fun activities and age appropriate games. Our "Slammin Jammers" (Grades 1/2 and 3/4) focuses on action-filled introduction to the foundational skills of basketball with an emphasis on FUN. "Building the Basics" (Grades 5/6, 7/8/9/10) learn the basics of the game of basketball with an emphasis on the three key skills of dribbling, lay-ups and shooting. Players will improve through a positive and encouraging atmosphere and our FNB coaching system. All players receive a t-shirt and jersey. Early bird registration is Saturday June 15 and fall registration is Saturday September 7. League dates are September 14 - November 29, 2013. Friday Nite Basketball is non-profit, faith based program run by Athletes in Action (a ministry of Power to Change). Inquiries between these dates are welcome.
