Join the Vancouver Cantonese Opera for a storytelling adventure based on the very famous Chinese legend of The Monkey King! The Monkey King, or Sun Wukong is a monkey born from a stone who acquires supernatural powers through Taoist practices. After rebelling against heaven and being imprisoned under a mountain by the Buddha, he later accompanies the monk Xuanzang on a journey to retrieve Buddhist sutras from India.

In this workshop, the Vancouver Cantonese Opera will tell you about Sun Wukongs colourful character, and the adventures he has while he accompanies the monk Xuanzang on a journey to retrieve Buddhist sutras from India.

The Monkey King is a main character in the 16th century Chinese novel Journey to the West.

Dont miss this opportunity to join the Vancouver Cantonese Opera for a fun and dynamic cultural learning experience!
