Wisteria Quartet – July 17,
12:15- 1:30 Free Lunchtime Festival Event! Victoria Summer Music Festival presents Victoria’s rising young Wisteria String Quartet in an informal lunchtime concert at the Royal BC Museum’s Newcombe Plaza – aka the Food Truck zone in the back courtyard!
This is the festival’s second free downtown event – open to all! Sit and enjoy the music while you have your lunch - possibly obtained at one of the tasty food trucks. Or – if you’re just passing by, take a few minutes to sample the musical fare on offer from the festival later in the month up at UVic!
The Wisteria String Quartet was formed in the fall of 2016, and is comprised of violinists Amy Toth and Jasmine Mather, violist Jaling Kersen, and cellist Claire Dresselhuis. Since its founding, the young ladies and aspiring musicians of the WSQ have continued to develop a strong musical relationship and dedication to chamber music.
The Wisteria String Quartet has been under the tutelage of the celebrated and award-winning Lafayette String Quartet. Composed exclusively of UVic Music Students, Amy, Jasmine, Jaling, and Claire have performed all across Victoria, including performances at Christ Church Cathedral, Philip T. Young Recital Hall, Metro studio theater, The Empress, Victoria Garden Tour, and more.
The WSQ is committed to engaging in musical conversation. Through their exploration of different genres from classical to modern classics they strive to share their immense love of chamber music with audiences of all generations and walks of life.
