Calling all foodies! Shape your passion into a rewarding, hands-on career that can take you around the world with Vancouver Island University’s Culinary Arts and Professional Baking programs. These internationally recognized programs provide students with hands-on, real-world experiences running service programs in state-of-the-art kitchens and labs. Food and bakery items are served to VIU’s student body and the public through two cafeterias and a 35-seat fine dining room on the Nanaimo campus; and a farm-to-table restaurant in Duncan.
The Culinary Arts program also has a paid co-operative education component that allows students to network and build industry contacts. From lobster bisque to artisan bread baked in VIU’s wood-fired oven, students learn the skills needed to enter rewarding careers in world-class hotels, resorts, restaurants, bakeries and more.
Educational grants are available to students wanting to train in these in-demand industries. Learn more at a free information session in Building 300, Room 128 on VIU’s Nanaimo Campus.
