Free Hugs Day
add to outlook add to google calendar remind me
In a world where you can keep in touch by Facebooking, Tweeting, texting and e-mailing without a physical presence, it's far too easy to lose that human touch. Hug. Hug often. Hug long.
Everyone is welcome to come out to the Free Hugs day on September 14th, 11am-1pm at Maffeo Sutton Park.
If you cannot attend in Nanaimo you can show the love by participating online and doling out a hug *wherever* you are on September 14th. Participants are making homemade Free Hugs signs and posting them online with the hashtag #freehugs914. Twitter, Instagram, Facebook all support hashtags and you can check out all the hugging going on.

About the Free Hugs Campaign:
Feeling depressed and lonely after numerous personal difficulties, Australian Juan Mann was deeply touched by a random hug from a stranger at a party. What began as one person giving hugs in a Sydney mall eventually evolved into a worldwide social movement of individuals offering hugs to strangers in public places. The campaign received international attention in 2006 as the result of a YouTube music video by Australian band Sick Puppies.
