This course takes the often murky and intimidating world of finances and distills them into practical sets of information you can take back into your organizations and implement immediately. During this 5 week program you will cover the topics necessary to fulfill the financial responsibilities of managing a nonprofit including:
Risk management
Budgeting best practices
Dealing with CRA and knowing your responsibilities around payroll, gst and tax filings
Payroll and HR issues
Board fiduciary responsibilities including financial and legal considerations
Roles of the Treasurer, ED and financial staff
Creating a financial policy and procedures framework for your organization
This course will be broken into two sections. The first will be a 3 hour in person training that will go through most of the content of the program. You will then get a chance to spend 4 weeks in the online environment working on the assignments and readings. At the end of week 4 a live webinar will be set where questions can be asked. During the online portion of the course, the instructor will be available to answer questions.
Schedule is as follows:
Oct 5th 9:00 am-12:00 pm - Meet in person (location to TBA)
Oct 5th -Nov 2nd- Participants go through online exercises & readings at your own pace
