Presenter Laurel Borisenko is the most recent dynamic workshop leader featured at Nanaimo’s Bethlehem Centre Saturday, March 2, 2019, at 2371 Arbot Rd from 2:00-3:30 pm. The centre welcomes the public to the $20 workshop,“Forgiveness in the Context of Generalized Political Violence.”
Laurel Borisenko conducted Ph.D. research in 3 different African countries on the role of the arts in leading to healing and reconciliation in political violence, and ultimately peacebuilding. In this afternoon workshop Laurel will describe the different dynamics between victims and perpetrators, and will lead a discussion of the role of forgiveness as a precursor to healing and reconciliation.
Laurel Borisenko has an impressive resume; she has spent more than a decade working in humanitarian aid and in complex emergencies occurring around the globe. She has held senior management roles in faith-based international NGOs and has worked with UN agencies in the areas of emergency relief, refugee protection and peacebuilding. In addition to her work in West Africa with the Mennonite Central Committee, Laurel brings first-hand knowledge of this topic through her extensive five-year field-based Ph.D. research.
Those wishing to register for this workshop can phone 250-754-3254 or email Johanne Nicholson at [email protected].
