Following its regular monthly meeting, Alberni Valley Transition Towns Society will be hosting a short presentation by First Nations Wildcrafter Keith Hunter, who will then conduct a relaxed and informal discussion and question-and-answer session which will give some perspective on an aspect of relocalized forest economy, a First Nations view of the relationship between society and the forest, and items relating to forestry on which we might all want to focus. Of particular interest might be the forest bio-products pilot project on which Keith is working with the Ministry of Lands, Forest and Natural Resource Operations.
Keiths site, (http://www.firstnationswildcrafters.com/index.html), contains a wealth of background information, as well as links to related publications. Keith has spoken widely on topics relating to wild craft and is recognized around the region for his expertise. Both the meeting and the presentation/discussion are open to the public and free of charge.
