It�s that time of year again! Nanaimo Food Link is embarking on its 6th year as a society and wants invite community members interested in food security to attend it Annual General Meeting. The AGM will be a chance to find out about the work of Food Link over the past year and to hear about the exciting new direction the society intends to take.

For six years, Food Link Nanaimo has been undertaking activities that support local community organizations in their mandates to increase food sovereignty, improve food systems, provide health education, and meet the local food needs of all Nanaimo and area community members. Food security issues are becoming more recognized as vital to the health of our communities. Food Link Nanaimo wants to expand its mandate to create a strong, unified voice for local food on Vancouver Island and address food security issues unique to our region

Interested community members are invited to attend the AGM on June 3rd from 1:30 to 3:30pm at the VIU Arbutus Room (above the cafeteria). The event will include a report on society and activities over the past year, a financial report and society special business. There will be an opportunity to renew your membership.

Adoption of minutes from AGM 2009

Report from Directors

Review/ acceptance of financial statements

Election of directors

Special business: special resolutions

1. Be it resolved that the name of the society be changed from �Food Link Nanaimo Society� to �Vancouver Island Food Network Society�.
2. Be it resolved that the purposes of the society are to:
1. provide a forum for discussion and communication for members
2. identify and assist members to pool and share resources and inspiration
3. coordinate and enhance member capacity and efficiency
4. plan strategically as a sector
5. provide a framework for developing new food security policies
6. create a strong unified voice for local food on Vancouver Island.
