6:00 PM to 7:30 PM

Flamenco dance is one of the most characteristic elements of Spanish culture and can be enjoyed by anyone at any age! Passionate and bold, or personal and subtle, flamenco is an emotional experience for all who participate.  Join Heather and learn basic steps and rhythms. You will be surprised how quickly you will be dancing Sevillanas, tangos, alegrias and more!!

Heather ‘flor de cádiz’ has been teaching and performing flamenco dance for many years. Her love of dance took her to Mexico and Spain where she studied, performed and taught flamenco and other dance forms for more than 10 years. This included becoming the director of flamenco at Mazatlan’s State Academy of Arts ‘Francisco Martínez Cabrera’, choreographer for the flamenco division of ‘Ballet Foklórico Quicacalco’; dance director at Colegio Sinaloense and flamenco teacher at Instituto Cultural de Occidente. She has also taught and performed flamenco at Simon Fraser University and Harbour Dance in Vancouver.

Heather travels to Spain frequently and continues to explore flamenco by studying with inspiring artists such as Adrián Galia, Maria Bermudez, La China, Ricardo Lopez, Emilio Ochando, Belén Maya, Cristina Hall, Domingo Ortega, Inmaculada Ortega and her mentor in Vancouver, Oscar Nieto.
