Two outstanding ensembles combine to perform two spectacular Baroque masterworks. The �Chaos� that opens Jean-F�ry Rebel�s Les El�ments, culminates in the ordered harmonies of Handel�s glorious Water Music. Celebrate Victoria Day weekend with music fit for a king!

For 28 years the Greater Victoria Youth Orchestra has brought symphonic sounds to thousands of music lovers, young and old, in communities from Bamfield to Whitehorse and Haida Gwaii. In rehearsals, sectionals, and workshops, the orchestra�s 65 players explore centuries of symphonic style, develop ensemble and performance skills, and build lasting friendships. The GVYO brings music to life as only young people can, with verve and enthusiasm, orchestrating joy for themselves and their audience alike.

In three short years the Victoria Baroque Players have made a significant mark on Victoria�s musical landscape. VBP members have played with world-renowned ensembles such as the English Concert, the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, and the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra as well as Pacific and Portland Baroque Orchestras. Besides their own concert series, the VBP have been guest artists with Early Music Society of the Islands, Victoria Conservatory of Music, Eine Kleine Summer Music and Victoria Children's Choir. Artistic Director and Baroque flautist Soile Stratkaukas imbues the ensemble with a passion to spread awareness of and joy in the wonderful music of the Baroque Era.

Yariv Aloni was appointed Music Director of GVYO in July 2010, having served as Associate Music Director since 2002. As violist he has performed and recorded worldwide. Along with performing and teaching and leading the GVYO, he holds the posts of Music Director of the Galiano Ensemble of Victoria and the Victoria Chamber Orchestra.
