'Fine Vintage' WSET Level 1 Award in Wines: 1 day course

The WSET Level 1 Award in Wines course is the ideal place to start. It is an introductory course suited to those with a basic knowledge as well as total beginners. There are no pre-requisites to take this course.

The Level 1 course focuses on learning the art of wine tasting, pairing food and wine, and covers the characteristics of the major grape varieties. We also delve into grape growing and winemaking, serving and cellaring wine, and include an overview on local wines.

There are lots of delicious wines that we taste during the course, and you can sit back and learn from our passionate and entertaining instructors, who are the very best in their region.

In addition to the fantastic wines you’ll experiment with wine and food matching exercises. It's all in a fun and relaxed atmosphere with plenty of opportunities to ask questions. It's a great course and over 75% of students continue to the intermediate.

The Level 1 exam involves a multiple choice paper consisting of 30 questions. We have a 98% pass rate! The exam takes place at the end of the 1 day course, and at the end of the last evening of the 4 week course. It usually takes students less than 25 minutes to complete. Upon successful completion, you will receive the WSET Level 1 Certificate, which is a formal qualification in wine.
