The Festival of Ocean Films, hosted by Georgia Strait Alliance, is on the road to mark its 9th year, travelling to Victoria on May 30.
"Sea of Life" (2017), winner of the Cinema Verde Film Festival (2017) and the EnviroFilm Festival (2017), takes audiences on a provocative journey through the most stunning and threatened ecosystems on the planet. Filmmaker Julia Barnes leads a Question-and-Answer session exclusively in Victoria, via Skype, following the screening of her film!
"The Hundred-Year-Old Whale" (2017) is a short by journalist and screenwriter Mark Leiren-Young that allows audiences to meet ‘Granny,’ the orca matriarch that lived off the coast of BC until she died last year. Earlier this month, this film won Best Documentary at the Writers Guild of Canada Screenwriting Awards.
