RAWK Camp with Speed Control

Nanaimo Rawk Camp takes place March 22-27, 2015 for anyone ages 8-80 that wants to learn to play rock & roll in a week and perform at Speed Control's Nanaimo Rawks Play Off Show at the Port Theatre on Friday March 27 at 11:30 - 1 p.m. for a lunch time performance!

Nanaimo Rawks Camp will take place at Headliners.ca during March Break. Instruments provided.

There will be three different sessions:
Youth Level 1: never played an instrument TIME: 9 -3 p.m. March 23-26
Youth Level 2: have some knowledge of playing instrument. TIME: 9-3 p.m. March 23-26.
Adults: with no experience or some experience playing 3-5 p.m. March 24, 25, 26 with performance at lunch time on Friday March 27, 2014. Adults please contact for more information.

Level 1 and Level 2 Youth Sessions will take place on March 23-26 from 9-3 p.m. and youth will make posters, design their bands' T-shirts and work together learning to play the songs for the performance on Friday March 27 with the members of Speed Control. Students need to bring a lunch.

Speed Control

Straight out of – 40 degrees in Canada’s Yukon, the power trio SPEED CONTROL hits hard, fast and with a sound some compare to Nirvana, and even early Police. Quoted as being “Parka Punk” by Stuart Derdeyn of the BC Province, Speed Control, made up of brothers Graeme (guitar/vox) and Jody Peters (bass/vox), and drummer Ian March, is known for their live shows and their passion for playing hard, fast and REAL ROCK!! Speed Control is not only a hard-hitting rock trio. They have dedicated themselves to furthering music education and bringing music back into kids’ lives which has led to a full endorsement by Yamaha Music. In the summer, between club and festival shows, Speed Control teaches“RAWK Camps” which are partnered with Yamaha Canada, giving the kids brand new instruments to play, and equipment to run the camp.
