Fresh from another triumph at last month’s Vancouver Folk Festival, Ferron will be gracing the ArtSpring stage with her inimitable presence, poignant songs and warm-as-toast voice. She will be joined by her 3-piece All Star Band. Be prepared to be deeply moved by this singer/songwriter/poet whose work has been compared to Van Morrison, Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen. Spanning a career of 40 years, Ferron is one of Canada’s most respected songwriters. She is an acknowledged influence on many musicians: Ani Di Franco, Mary Gauthier and the Indigo Girls, to name but a few. Ferron, the recipient of the OUTmusic Lifetime Achievement Award, has always been an outspoken advocate for social justice issues, and one of her first hits, ‘Testimony’, became the unofficial anthem of the women’s movement.
