“Que? Que?”

“Typical. This is absolutely typical.”

Audiences will get another chance to watch the antics of the snobbish and obtuse Basil Fawlty, bungling waiter Manuel and other iconic characters this spring at the Charlie White Theatre in Sidney.

A joint project of the Mary Winspear Centre and the Peninsula Players, the much-loved Fawlty Towers will be live on the stage April 19-22.

Says Director Matt Watson:  “I have long been a serious Monty Python Flying Circus fan, and Fawlty fits along these lines due to the influence of John Cleese. The writing is quick and poignant, and the humour is both droll and witty in turns.”

Following Peninsula Players’ two highly successful previous shows in the series, this production will feature the episodes “The Builders”, “The Anniversary Party” and “Gourmet Night”.

The Builders
Basil and Sybil go out for a day leaving Polly and Manuel in charge while some refurbishment is carried out, but penny-pinching Basil has employed the dubious talents of incompetent builder, Mr. O’Reilly and his crew.  Can Basil remedy the mess up before Sybil finds out?

The Anniversary Party
Basil invites some friends for a surprise wedding anniversary party, but Sybil assumes he has forgotten their anniversary and storms off, leaving her husband and Polly, in disguise, desperately trying to convince the others that Sybil is ill…

Gourmet Night
In an effort to climb another rung in the social ladder, Basil arranges a gourmet night with no “riff-raff”.  Between a drunken chef in the kitchen and mechanical problems with his car, Basil edges ever closer to a nervous breakdown.
