Des Kennedy is an accomplished novelist and satirist as well as a celebrated gardening writer and speaker. The author of nine books, in both fiction and non-fiction, he has been three times nominated for the Stephen Leacock Memorial Medal for Humour. He’s contributed numerous articles on environmental issues, gardening and rural living to a variety of publications in Canada and the United States, including as gardening columnist for The Globe and Mail, with appearances on many regional and national television and radio programs. Acknowledged as one of the most influential personalities in the Canadian gardening scene, he’s also been active for many years in environmental and social justice issues. He lives with his partner Sandy in their hand-built Gulf Islands house surrounded by gardens and woodlands.

Rhona McAdam is a writer, food activist and holistic nutritionist. Her poetry has been published in magazines and anthologies in Canada, the US and England since the 1980s. In 2012 she published an urban agriculture manifesto, Digging the City (RMB). Ex-ville (Oolichan Books) is her sixth full-length poetry collection. She lives in Victoria.

Poet and editor, Bruce Rice, lives in Regina. Bruce has published five award-winning poetry collections including his new book from Coteau, The Trouble With Beauty (Coteau) and a children’s book, Dorothy McMoogle With Kumquat and Bugle (Wild Sage Press). His first poetry collection, Daniel, received the prestigious Canadian Author’s Association Award. He has twice been longlisted for CBC’s Canada Writes competition, was nominated for Saskatchewan Book of the Year in 2009, and received the P.K. Page Founders Award for the best poem in Malahat Review in 2013.
