Touring Canada from west to east for the 9th time since 2000, the Ensemble Contemporaine de Montréal (ECM+) Génération2016 Canadian Tour presents a new edition of this now legendary project. The tour will stop at the University of Victoria on October 24 as part of the Orion Series in Fine Arts.
Conducted by Véronique Lacroix, audiences are invited to discover new works by four emerging Canadian composers, including music by UVic School of Music alumna Sabrina Schroeder (B.Mus ’04). Each composer will compete for the Génération Jury Award and Audience Choice Award. The composer-host Gabriel Dharmoo will be on stage, along with the ten ECM+ musicians to guide the listeners through electrifying performances of four new works that are as unique as they are fascinating, including a concertante piece for soloist flutist Marie-Hélène Breault.
