Explore Joseph Haydn, �the father of the string quartet,� with a morning of music, tea and insight into the fascinating life of one of the most prolific and prominent composers of the Classical period.
The Emily Carr String Quartet Society in partnership with the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria is presenting a new series of concerts: Music Inside Out. The first concert, a look at Joseph Haydn�s life and music, takes place on Saturday, Feb. 8.
Tea and sundries, followed by discussion, analysis and a full performance of Haydn's String Quartet Op 76 No 3, Emperor are included in the morning�s program. Following the concert, audience members are invited to take a guided tour of the Gallery, which is included with the ticket price.
Renowned musician and educator June Goldsmith will host the event. Goldsmith is the founder of Vancouver's Music in the Morning, a regular guest on the CBC�s radio program North by Northwest, and has been honoured for her work in music with The Order of Canada and The Order of British Columbia.
