Friends of the BC Archives Lecture: Emily Carr: No Such Thing as Barren Years
Kerry Mason
The years of 1913 to 1927 in the life of internationally renowned artist and author Emily Carr have often been referred to as her barren years; Mason believes instead that this period showed a surge of creativity. Join us for an illustrated lecture about B.C.s most famous artist.
(The lecture will be preceded by a short Annual General Meeting, which the public are welcome to attend. The lecture portion of the event will begin at 2:30 pm.)
Kerry Mason was the Manager of the Emily Carr Gallery from its inception in 1977 until 1988, curating more than 27 exhibitions relating to Emily Carr. In addition to teaching at UVic and the Victoria College of Art, Kerry Mason is the former Curator of the Maltwood Art Museum and Gallery and is an art consultant for private and corporate clients and public institutions.
