When long time Victoria guitarist, John MacArthur met singer, Edie DaPonte , it was a musical kinship and mutual love of Latin and Bossa, that led them to create their debut album, Edie & John Love Bossa.
Produced and Recorded at Baker Studios in Victoria, BC, by Joby Baker, whose production credits include grammy and juno award winning artists, the CD features a smooth mix of Bossa Nova standards from composers, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Jorge Ben, Ronaldo Boscoli and Luiz Bonfa. Well loved Victoria musicians featured on the album include, Joey Smith on Bass, Roy Styffe on Sax and Joby Baker on backing vocals, percussion, piano and bass. Influenced by Edie�s Portuguese Fado roots, most of the tracks are sung in Brazilian Portuguese blending beautifully with John�s creative latin stylings.
Equally energetic and intimate, Love Bossa moves from the toe tapping samba rhythms of �So Danco Samba� to the luscious wistul arrangement of �Garota de Ipanema�. The last 2 tracks are Edie & John�s originals. Of note is �Broken Dreams� which the only track sung in English. It�s a lament for lost opportunities and a request to never give up on your dreams.
This album serves up a combination of passionate, soulful, and upbeat Bossa music!
